A "universal" knob only works if the bore matches your shaft. Instead of a rubber-insert compromise, set the exact bore and print a knob that fits like OEM. Most gas ranges use 6mm or 8mm D; premium ranges run 9mm; some electric ranges use a 1/4-inch (6.35mm) D — measure yours and dial it in.
